Trainers, counsellors, authors and founders of BEF, Janet Cotter and Trevor Overton, have worked with families for many years and, perhaps most importantly, are parents themselves, each with three children! Both have vast experience in presenting workshops in personal development courses and are qualified, practicing counsellors. This combined background puts them in a unique position to provide practical input and support. Janet has spent her professional life as a drama specialist and counsellor working with children and adolescents both here and in America. Trevor has  been a motivational communicator in various settings, offering web-cam counselling and life coaching, training parenting practitioners, as well as delivering therapeutic and motivational workshops across the UK. Both are actively involved in parent coaching.

Together they have written the flagship course, Building Effective Families, which is being hailed as one of the most revolutionary and effective approaches to parenting skills available on the market today. Evolving from the course their booklet, ‘Living with your Adolescent’ was published in October 2008 and their new book, ‘Beyond the Naughty Step’, has just become available.
